In the
UK we are very privileged to have an organisation where people freely
give up there time and expertise in what is sometimes very dangerous
conditions where very few people would dare to be out in, and those
who are wish they werent.
People call on the RNLI every day for help and rescue,
a high percentage of these are down to the basic safety measures being
overlooked, and whilst the launch of the lifeboat is often seen as a
spectacular event it also indicates that someone is in trouble, needs
help and has called upon this donation funded organisation and volunteers
who often put themselves at risk, to get them out of it.
As a skipper of a boat or water user it is your responsibility not to
risk the lives of your crew or other users and to ensure that your actions
do not put others in danger.
The RNLI has produced several safety booklets
giving essential safety information on:
-
Dinghy sailing
-
Motor boating
-
Sports boating
-
Wind surfing
-
Jet skiing
-
Diving
-
Surfing
-
Fishing
-
Beach safety
These booklets can be ordered from the RNLI and you can
find out about further safety information by visiting your local lifeboat
station or visit www.lifeboats.org.uk when you visit the stations please
remember that this is a voluntary organisation and put a few pounds
in the collection boats that are there or why not become a member of
the RNLI yourself.
Enjoy the water but above all Stay Safe.
Visit the Marine Rescue and Lifeboat section of the and find out where your nearest lifeboat shop is.
