Dingy Sailing
With so many different types of sailing dinghy boats
around the best advice anyone can have is to go to a local club and
get afloat; but there are a few things to note before doing so...
Do you want bum wetting breakneck speed, with capsize an occurrence
not just a possibility, requiring the agility of a top gymnast in a
modern racing boat or do you want to potter around on any type of water
with family and friends where you can set the pace and stop for a bite
to eat on the water, or something in between with such a variety of
boats and clubs offering different activities then having some idea
of what you want will help even if you change your mind after you have
tried dinghy sailing.
Ask at the club if you are not sure of what they do, most clubs have
an extensive programme for round the buoy racing, this is great for
sharpening up the skills required for sailing all manner of boats not
just dinghies, and sea clubs also offer trips and races to local areas
or islands. Whatever your preference this sport can accommodate you
and give years of pleasure as well as keep you reasonably fit.
I will be covering various aspects of sailing
and highlighting some of the events happening around Wales in the sections
of the site as it grows and would encourage you to participate with
this or any section of the site so other can benefit from your input.
